Australia raises minimum wage

Australia has raised the minimum wage by 5.2% to help workers cope with rising costs of living and inflation.

According to the country's pay commission, this was due to a severe shortage of workers in some jobs as well as rising inflation.

Accordingly, the minimum national wage will increase to $ 21.38.

Thus, the lowest paid employee will receive an additional $ 40 a week.

The Wages Commission said the increase was in line with forecasts that inflation in Australia would rise to around 6% soon.

This salary increase is effective from the 1st of next month.

It will benefit about 2 million employees in Australia.

At the last election, the then Leader of the Opposition, the current Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, said that if he came to power he would give a 5.1% salary increase.
