Australia were bowled out for 282 in 44 overs by Duckworth-Lewis in the second innings.
They were able to complete it in 42 overs in 03 balls.
Man of the match Glenn Maxwell was 80 not out.
Steven Smith scored 53 and Aaron Finch and Marcus Stones scored 44 each.
Wanindu Hasaranga took 04 wickets for 58 runs while Dunith Wellalage took 02 wickets for 49 runs in his first ODI.
The second ODI between the two sides will be played at 16 Pallekele.
