Sri Lanka beats India in first 20 overs

The touring Indian women's cricket team today (23) got off to a winning start in the three-match Twenty20 cricket tournament against Sri Lanka.

That was followed by a 34-run victory in the first Twenty20 match of the tournament.

India won the toss and elected to bat first.

Accordingly, the Indian cricketers were able to score 138 runs for the loss of 6 wickets at the end of 20 overs.

Jemimah Rodrigues scored 36 not out, Shafali Verma 31 and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur 22.

Inoka Ranaweera took three wickets for 30 runs. Oshadhi Ranasinghe took two wickets for 22 runs.

In reply Sri Lanka were bowled out for 104 in 20 overs for the loss of five wickets.

Skipper Chamari Atapattu was dismissed for 16 runs. Kaveesha Dilhari was unbeaten on 47.

Radha Yadav took 2 wickets for 22 runs.

The second Twenty20 match between the two countries is scheduled to be played on the 25th in Dambulla.
