Sri Lanka won by six wickets with a record chase


Sri Lanka won the third match of the five-match ODI series between the touring Australian team and Sri Lanka.

Accordingly, the Sri Lankan team was able to take a 2-1 lead in the tournament.

Australia won the toss and elected to bat first.

Batting first, Australia could score only 291 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 50 overs.

Travis Head was unbeaten on 70 while skipper Aaron Finch was unbeaten on 62.

Jeffrey Vandersay took 3 wickets for 49 runs in 10 overs for Sri Lanka.

Chasing a mammoth 292, Sri Lanka were bowled out for just four wickets in 48.3 overs.

Pathum Nissanka scored 137, Kusal Mendis (retired hurt) 87 and Niroshan Dickwella and Dhananjaya de Silva 25 for Sri Lanka.

However, skipper Dasun Shanaka did not have a chance to score a single and Charith Asalanka, who was batting unbeaten, scored 13 runs while Chamika Karunaratne did not score.

Jhye Richardson took two wickets for Australia, while Nn Maxwell and Josh Hazlewood took one wicket each.

Pathum Nissanka was named the man of the match.

This victory was won by Colombo Rs. At the Premadasa Stadium, he chased down a team in an ODI at the stadium and entered the record books as the highest scorer to win a match.
