A woman who was alone at home is killed

The police say that investigations have been started based on information that a woman has been murdered in a house in Ampitiya, Kandy.

The police said that they received information that a woman who was alone in a house in the area was attacked and killed by a sharp weapon in the afternoon today (14).

A 65-year-old woman resident of Ampitiya area has died.

Divisional Crime Scene Inspectors have conducted an on-site inspection and the Magistrate who has arrived at the scene of the murder has also conducted an investigation.

The reason for the murder has not yet been revealed and the Kandy police are conducting further investigations.
